Update on returning to swimming

The committee have had a Zoom meeting to discuss the development of an action plan so that the Club is prepared for when we can return to swim training. We do not expect to be able to return for some time yet, but as you will be aware the guidance issued by HM Govt is changing all the time. Moreover, any return will be subject to discussion and negotiation with the Leisure Centre once they have been give the go ahead to open.

The committee feel strongly that we should try as a Club to fully prepare for a return to training and with that in mind we are exploring the possibility of putting on some outdoor land training sessions. This will help ensure that swimmers are physically prepared for a return to the pool after an extended break. We will let you know as soon as we have been able to develop this idea into a working plan with dates and locations – watch this space!

We also expect to need more volunteers to run sessions once the pool is open. For example, we will need people to supervise the changing area to enforce social distancing. We may also need people to manage entry and exit from the centre. There may be other tasks that will require volunteer support. As our plans develop and it becomes clearer what will be needed we will start to ask for more help. Please give some thought to how you can support the club.

All Parents should have received a text from Karen last night, please let us know if you did not receive this. We are trying to make sure we have full current contact details so we can keep you fully informed. With this in mind we will be undertaking some surveys to help us plan.

As you can appreciate from this newsletter the Committee have been very busy behind the scenes working to enable a safe return to the pool. We will try to provide regular news letters in the weeks ahead and will include parents, carers and swimmers in our decision making processes and will consult with you at all stages

With thanks The Committee
