GALAS
Driffield Junior Amateur Swimming Club compete as a team in Friendly, Borders and Ridings Galas and there are also opportunities to compete as an individual.
More details of the galas are shown below and all dates are shown on our calendar.
8yrs to 13yrs – this is not a league as such (there is no league table). These galas allow swimmers who are new to competition to race against other swimmers in a friendly environment. Cut off times apply, i.e. swimmers who swim faster than a specified time will be disqualified. This is to deter clubs entering their fastest swimmers into an event which is designed for swimmers who are new to competition.
Clubs can decide if and in how many Galas they wish to compete at the Annual Dates Meeting.
9yrs and over – this is a development league, designed to bridge the gap between Friendly Galas and Ridings League. It allows swimmers to compete against a higher standard of swimmer with a league table and a trophy given to the winning team at the end of the season. Cut-off times will apply; therefore a swimmer going too fast will gain no points for that event.
Clubs can decide if and in how many Galas they wish to compete at the Annual Dates Meeting.
In line with ASA swimming competition structure the age of a swimmer is their age on 31st December 2022.
9yrs and over – all individual events now 50m.
This is the most competitive league with all member clubs entering their strongest possible team in every Gala. There are three leagues:
- Premier
- League 1
- League 2
Driffield Junior Amateur Swimming Club are in currently in League 2.
In line with the ASA swimming competition structure the age of a swimmer is their age on 31st December 2022.
There are a number of Individual Galas across our region that swimmers can enter. This allows them to compete on their own for medals/trophies.
